About

Kirsten Angeliyan Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Corporation

Kirsten Angeliyan is a licensed Marriage and Family therapist and has practiced in the field for the last 10 years. She graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in both fields of Psychology and Social Behavior, and Criminology, Law & Society from University of California, Irvine in 2012. She then took on a role of tutor for high-school aged children in the foster system, specifically supporting the college entry-process. She then attended California Polytechnic State University from 2013-2015 and obtained her Master of Science in Psychology with distinction. San Luis Obispo was a place she grew and also grew to love the practice of psychotherapy. In the early years of her career, she helped marginalized populations, specifically those involved in the justice system, individuals with severe impairment to their lives due to mental health challenges and their families to identify resources, gain education, and empower their strengths in therapy. Kirsten served as therapist to individuals re-entering the community from periods of incarceration. Within this role, she also served as advocate where she attended court and spoke for her client’s mental health needs and treatment in Antelope Valley, Ca. She participated in outreach to homeless population of South Los Angeles and provided mental health case management to this population. She also sought to explore further into the justice system and served a role of clinician at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, Ca. There, she frequently managed risk and crisis in the suicide watch unit. For the last 4 years, she provided group psychotherapy counseling and case management for individuals with severe mental health challenges at Kaiser Permanente in the Antelope Valley where she worked closely with psychiatrists and other medical providers to provide holistic care. She recently returned to San Luis Obispo, Ca, the community she was trained in, to start her practice. It is here she would like to continue to help others work towards healthier lives and connectedness with one another.
